Like Disney, Malika-Zaynah has the ability through her incredible designs to bring text to life. As a Publisher and Author, I was blessed to have her illustrate two of my titles and her heart warming images in 'I Am Not My Hair' allowed the audience to empathize with 6 year old Deléna Thompson's alopecia journey and celebrate her bravery. The Metro newspaper, BBC London News and international websites commented on Malika-Zaynah's powerful interpretation.
Malika-Zaynah also created images that embodied warmth with Caribbean flavour, in a book 'Crayven The Nyamming Jancro'. I told her my vision and I was overwhelmed by the outcome and the way she translated my words into picture book form.
Malika-Zaynah is not only talented but an absolute professional, very easy to work with and great at interpreting and capturing ideas shared. And just as important she has always met the agreed deadline for a task. From a book perspective, Malika-Zaynah is most certainly a Sir Quentin Blake, Nick Sharratt and E.H. Shepard in the making.
